For that money, the model comes equipped with a 1.4 TFSI engine which develops 185 horsepower and 250 Nm and is paired with a S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The combination allows the A1 to post an average fuel consumption of 39.87 mpg (5.9 l/100km) and CO2 emissions of 139 g/km, while maintaining well balanced performance levels.
The A1 1.4 TFSI accelerates from naught to sixty in 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 227 km/h (141.05 mph).
Of course, the engine alone could not have accounted for the huge hike in price compared to the regular version. The new A1 model comes with 17-inch wheels, S line exterior package, manual air conditioning, additional colored interior elements, black headlining and the LED interior light package.
As with any car of its class, the options list is quite comprehensive and includes LED (headlights, taillights and interior), high-beam assistant, light and rain sensor, panoramic sunroof, navigation systems and a 465 watt Bose surround sound system .
The safety package includes two front airbags, thorax/pelvic side airbags and curtain head airbags, belt tensioners and belt force limiters, Audi integral headrest system and Isofix.
