The BMW X3 has had its world premiere at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The vehicle comes with a design that resembles that of the first generation X3. However, it is now larger and features the same design language as the new 5 and 7 series. Compared to its predecessor, the vehicle offers more interior space and a larger boot - the luggage space capacity has been increased by 70 liters to 550 liters.

The European version of the car comes with two versions (a diesel and a petrol one): the xDrive2.0d (184 hp and 380 Nm) and the xDrive35i (306 hp and 400 Nm), while the U.S. incarnation comes with two petrol units. One of them is the aforementioned xDrive35i, while the other is the xDrive28i (240 hp and 311 Nm of torque).

Back in 2004, the first BMW X3 established a new segment and quickly became a bestseller. It’s only logical that the second generation continues this success. What distinguishes the second generation of this sports activity vehicle? It’s larger than its predecessor and blends in perfectly between the BMW X1 and the BMW X5 Series,” said Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW.

The 2011 BMW X3 will reach showrooms across Europe sometime during next month.

As soon as you drive it you feel that the suspension technology has been significantly improved to offer an even more agile driving experience. The new BMW X3 is produced in Spartanburg, where we have just completed an investment of 750 million USD to accommodate the production of this vehicle as well as the increase in capacity to 200,000 vehicles per year.” the executive added.
