2010 Nissan Patrol Unveiled

Japanese carmaker Nissan revealed yesterday the new Nissan Patrol in a somewhat limited manner in Abu Dhabi. The car supposed to take down Toyota’s Land Cruiser saw daylight in the UAE because it is specially intended for Arab customers.

With a price tag ranging somewhere at around 50,000 euros, the new Patrol packs a 5.6l V8 engine which develops 400 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. The unit is paired with a seven speed automatic transmission and a new electronic four-wheel-drive system with four driver-selectable modes: pavement, sand, rock, and snow.

The seventh generation Patrol features a new four-wheel independent suspension and packs all the off-roading must-have: hydraulic body roll mitigation system, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

On the interior, the new Patrol boasts premium features and Nissan’s "curtain vent" which, thanks to the openings above each window, allow for cool air to insulate the passengers from the windows of the car
by means of a air-conditioned layer.

"The all-new 2010 version of Nissan Patrol will have seven variants priced between Dh180,000 and Dh270,000, ex-showroom," Sayed Humayun Alam, assistant general manager, AI Masaood Automobiles, told Gulf News.

Sales of the new Patrol will start in April, after the car underwent 13,000 hours of testing in Arabian deserts and roads.

"The new Patrol is built with the high level of safety, performance and quality that characterises the Nissan brand, and we paid special attention to the needs of GCC drivers and passengers," said Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Nissan.
