Changes can be seen starting with the long air induction tube that wrapped around the engine, which was eliminated to give cleaner appearance under the hood. The intercooler reservoir is twice the volume of previous generations, and the intercooler is a single core cross-flow radiator, allowing for a more efficient cooling.
Even if much of the 4.6l 3V powertrain components are a carryover from that used on the 2005-2009 ROUSH Mustangs, the tweaks made to the 2010 version were made using Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) level quality materials.
The 2010 427R benefits from a visual kit which is comprised of a new front fascia and front splitter, rear fascia, side splitters, and a three-piece rear wing. The vehicle rides on standard 18-inch cast chrome wheels with high-performance Cooper Zeon tires, but 20 inch cast chrome wheels are available as an option.
The 427R's suspensions were tested on thousands of miles traveled on the streets and tracks. As a result, a ROUSH wheel hop reduction kit will be included with all vehicles that have the upgraded ROUSH suspension package installed at the factory.
The new 427R will be covered by a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. As Jack Roush calls it, "ROUSH 2010 Mustang is our finest effort yet.”
The Mustang tuner tries to bridge the gap between road and track. As you might have guessed by now, there is no Porsche of Ferrari to be found in ROUSH's garage. The only cars the 2,000 employees of the company work on are American built muscle cars, preferably built by Ford.
