2010 Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman Racer Unveiled

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Moto Guzzi took the visitors of the 2009 EICMA Show in Milan by surprise these days, as it displayed and revealed details of the new V7 Clubman Racer, which they say is “the end result of extensive tuning inspired by the motorcycles that in the 1970s challenged each other in the modified production category.”

The model is an authentic cafe racer, with several design elements inspired from the Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans which first debuted at the 1975 Milan Motorcycle Show, therefore mixing the classic look with modern technology. The Le Mans influence can be seen the naked eye thanks to certain styling elements such as the top fairing, upswept Arrow exhaust, single seat, #7 plate and a bright red frame.

The V7 Clubman is fitted with Guzzi’s 744cc v-twin, claiming 49 horsepower and 58 Nm of torque. The bike features a steel tube chassis, five-speed gearbox, 40mm Marzocchi fork and twin Bitubo shock absorbers. The gearbox is a five-speed unit and braking duties are handled by a single 320mm disc at the front and 260mm disc at the back.

The light alloy spoke wheels are the same size as the Moto Guzzi V7 Café (18-inch front, 17-inch rear) but the Clubman Racer is equipped with higher performance Pirelli Demon Sport tires with a larger 140/70 rear.

There is no slipper clutch, ABS, traction control or on-board computer, so don’t look for it. Moto Guzzi says the V7 Clubman Racer is a 2010 model but many of its parts are available in its accessories catalogues so V7 Classic and V7 Café owners can assemble their own version.
