2010 Mercedes R-Klasse Unveiled at NYIAS 2010

Taking center stage at Mercedes’ booth at the 2010 NYIAS event is the world premiere of the new-generation R-Klasse, featuring a number of extensive updates including a completely redesigned front end and with a new "diamond white" paint finish.

The front section has therefore been made wider and features a horizontally structured bonnet, while the vehicle's wings, radiator grille and surround, headlamps and bumpers with chrome underguard have all been completely redesigned. Additionally, a chrome insert with integrated LED daytime driving lights in conjunction with bi-xenon headlamps is also available.

Wheels are available in 5-spoke, 5-twin spoke or 10-spoke designs, and in sizes ranging from 43.2 to 53.3 centimetres (17 to 21 inches).

Inside, the new generation R-Klasse makes use of new materials and color combinations, including the upholstery combination of "Aspen" fabric and breathable, soft-touch ARTICO man-made leather. Single-tone nappa leather appointments are available as standard in conjunction with the AMG Interior Sports package.

The two-tone interior is also available and includes base color almond beige that can be combined with the contrasting color mocha brown, and the base color alpaca grey combined with contrasting dark basalt grey. Both color combinations are used on the dashboard, steering wheel, centre console, seats, door linings and floor coverings.

All new R-Klasse models boast numerous features as standard, such as anticipatory occupant protection system PRE-SAFE, crash-active NECK-PRO head restraints, telematics systems, THERMATIC automatic climate control system, a tire pressure loss warning system and adaptive brake lights.

Additionally, options include a THERMOTRONIC system, DISTRONIC proximity control, AIRMATIC air suspension with ADS, Blind Spot Assist, LINGUATRONIC, Rear Seat Entertainment System and seat heating.

The new generation R-Klase model will come in a total of 9 base versions, in standard or long wheelbases, 4MATIC rear or permanent all-wheel drive, or with BlueTEC or BlueEFFICIENCY technology. Details can be found in the table below (figures in brackets apply to long wheelbase variants):
