2010 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG and S65 AMG Unveiled

Following the official unveiling of the facelifted S-Klasse last week, everybody was curious to see what are the new things to be offered on the AMG versions of S63 and S65. Although more information regarding these two particular models upgraded by Mercedes' sport division was expected to be revealed next week at the official debut in Shanghai, the first details reached the web a few days ago through AMG's official online configuration website.

Just like the folks at wrote, the AMG models do not differ too much in appearance, despite the large air intakes, the LED fog lamps and the LED tailights now installed on both the S63 and S65. However, the first thing you'll notice when looking at the car is surely the redesigned grille with five horizontal bars (three for the S65). Both models come with quad exhaust outlets, bigger than on the standard models.

In terms of power, the S63 AMG will incorporate a 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates around 518 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, but no performance figures are available at this point.

On the other hand, the S65 AMG will rely on a twin-turbo 6.0 V12 engine that produces as much as 604 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque and mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.

Pricing details got leaked as well, with German versions to cost 144,823 euros for the S63 AMG and 221,221 euros for the S65 AMG. The US versions will cost $135,225 for the S63 AMG and $202,825 for the S65 AMG.
