2010 Mazda CX-9 Facelift Makes Debut in New York

Just as we "warned" you in mid-March, the 2010 Mazda CX-9 was officially introduced at the 2009 New York Auto Show. The refreshed model will be available in three forms, Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. As you can see for yourself in the adjacent photos, Mazda restyled the front fascia with a chromed grille, a lower bumper plus restyled headlights and taillights. The car is now featuring 20-inch or 18-inch wheels fitted with P245/50R-20 or P245/60R-18 tires.

There will be a single engine option available, namely a 3.7-liter V6 configuration that will produce 273 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed Sport AT automatic transmission with manual-mode as standard equipment.

"A power take-off device integrated with the CX-9's transaxle spins a drive shaft attached to an active coupling built into the rear differential. Commanded by a control module, the servo-controlled multi-plate coupling can route from zero up to 50 percent of the available torque to the rear wheels," Mazda explained in a statement for the press.

A number of safety features are also available, including ABS, EBD, Traction Control System (TCS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), side-curtain airbags, front headrests Mazda's Advanced Impact-energy Distribution and Absorption System.

Furthermore, all models come with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks with remote keyless entry, trip computer, cruise control, six air bags, Bluetooth phone capability and a choice of black or beige interior hues. The Grand Touring version will also offer a satellite navigation system as optional.
