2010 LaCrosse's New Mission: Bring Buick in the Forefront of the Industry

The 2010 Buick LaCrosse is about to become the most important model in the whole product lineup belonging to this particular General Motors brand as company officials recently admitted the upcoming model has all it takes to bring the brand in the forefront of the auto industry. Even though Buick recorded moderate sales with the Enclave, better figures are expected in the next years and the LaCrosse is expected to become the main model to help the company achieve this goal.

The automaker sold 3,336 Enclaves last month, a drop of 12.8 percent compared to the same month of 2008, according to figures provided by Autonews. However, Buick's overall sales recorded a decrease by 48.4 percent, versus 53.1 percent for the parent company General Motors.

Susan Docherty, vice president of Buick-Pontiac-GMC, admitted the Enclave sold well in an economic recession-hit market but it's mandatory to see better figures from the LaCrosse in order to compete with the current market leaders.

"Even though we have this great Enclave crossover, it has moved the image measures on Buick only slightly," she told the aforementioned source. "We will know that we really have a home run with Buick when we can be competitive in the sedan segment and go up against the Acura TL, Lexus ES 350 and the Toyota Avalon."

The 2010 Buick LaCrosse sedan was officially displayed at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 2012 and is expected to go on sale this summer. The Fairfax Assembly facility in Kansas City, Kansas the only production facility to build the new model. For more photos and details about the 2010 LaCrosse, check out this article.
