As the auto show season draws ever closer, car manufacturers all over the world just won't stop teasing and taunting us. Kia Motors is no exception and keeps on leaking photos and specs about its upcoming range. It did the same with the release of two additional teaser photos previewing its upcoming 2010 Sorento crossover. These teaser images come after another photo of the model surfaced only days ago.
As is the case with most of the Korean manufacturer's latest designs, the future Sorento was perfected under ex-Audi designer Peter Schreyer's supervision, kia-world.net reported. The lines of the Sorento are inspired from the KUE concept that debuted at the North American Auto Show in 2007.
The new Sorento will bring with it a wide range of engines. The lineup will feature the 2.2l R-diesel engine, which produces 200 horsepower, the bigger 2.4l Theta II gasoline engine and the top of the line 3.8l six cylinders gasoline powerplant. The latter produces no less than 270 horsepower and, as well as the other two, will be controlled by a new six speed automatic transmission.
The new Sorento will become available for the privileged Korean market by the end of April. The "lesser" people of Europe and the US will have to wait for an extra few months before being able to enjoy the new crossover.
Information about the official release date in countries other than Korea have not been released, but rumor goes that the Sorento will be on display at the 2010 New York International Auto Show, set to open its doors in April.
