2010 Kia Forte Launched in China

Korean manufacturer Kia has launched today its new Forte (a.k.a Cerato in some countries) at the Nanjing International Expo Centre, with the outspoken goal to make the car a hit in the high-end C-segment market. Kia has big plans for the Forte in China, as so far its vehicles have managed to snatch a 13.5 percent growth year on year.

"When the Forte made its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show back in April, It received rave reviews from local media for its segment-leading commercial value, dynamic styling, ample interior space and superior convenience features that surpass the local market's expectations," Jong-Ok Park, Dongfeng Yueda Kia president said.

As was to be expected, in order for it to comply with the requirements of the local market, the Forte had to be adapted. The changes started with the name of the car, which will be sold in China under the Fu-Rui-Di name (Chinese characters for luck, auspiciousness and advance).

The exterior has been redesigned to fit newly designed large fog lamps, while the head lamps, rear lamps and radiator grille have been bulked up. On the inside the Forte now boasts chrome finishings chrome finishings.

Kia says the Forte is the first car on the Chinese market to use a eco-driving system. Engine wise, the Forte is powered by both the 1.6l Gamma engine or 2.0l Theta engine. Additionally, a push start ignition smart key, Supervision gauge cluster and auto cruise control can also be found on the new Forte.

In the coming weeks, Kia will set up exclusive showrooms across the country, as well as special halls for visitors to review the car's newest technologies, such as the aforementioned eco-driving system.
