2010 Jaguar XJ, in the US in December

Santa comes with the gift of all gifts to America, as he will give Rudolph a brake and take the new Jaguar XJ overseas. The American bound XJ will be available in both standard and long wheelbases and will come with both normally aspired and supercharged V8 petrol units.

"The launch of the all new Jaguar XJ marks a major milestone for Jaguar in North America, which is expected to be the world's largest Jaguar XJ market. The debut of our ultimate four-door flagship follows recent recognition for exceptional dependability and clearly demonstrates our commitment to producing the finest cars in the world--fast, beautiful cars that offer luxury, performance and first-rate quality," Jaguar Land Rover America said in a release.

The XJ will be priced in the US as follows, including an $850 destination charge (prices for standard and long wheelbase, respectively):

  • 5.0l naturally aspirated XJ and XJL (385 hp)       $72,500 and 79,500
  • 5.0l XJ and XJL Supercharged (470 hp)              $87,500 and $90,500
  • 5.0l XJ and XJL Supersport (510hp)                    $112,000 and $115,000

Performance wise, the engines of the new XJ develop 385 PS/283 kW (the V8 petrol) and 510 PS/ 375 kW (the supercharged V8). Fuel consumption figures stand at 16.6 mpg (17l/100 km) for the petrol V8 and 15.4 mpg (18.3l/100 km) for the supercharged version, both in city driving.

Standard features in the new XJ include CD/DVD player, HD radio, and a SIRIUS satellite radio receiver, Media Hub, Bluetooth audio streaming and an auxiliary input and 12.3-inch high-definition screen.

"The new XJ is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the quintessential Jaguar," concluded Ian Callum, Design Director for Jaguar Cars.
