2010 Honda Insight Awarded to a Music Festival Participant

Sometimes good things happen to you when you least expect them to. That is exactly what an attendee to the Austin City Limits felt when he found out that he was the lucky winner of a new Honda Insight, which has a MSRP of $19,800. The American division of Honda awarded a 2010 Honda Insight hybrid to Nehal Sanghavi of Austin, Texas, as the winner of an environmentally-focused contest at the October 2009 Austin City Limits music festival.

Sanghavi and several thousands of other festival attendees, participated in the 'Rock & Recycle' program, which aimed to promote recycling and eco-friendly transportation.

American Honda Motor was supported by C3, the promoter of Austin City Limits, as an official Eco-partner for the event. Honda on-site participation in Austin included integrated "green" activities, hybrid-vehicle displays and the giveaway of the all-new 2010 Insight hybrid car.

"Austin City Limits made helping the environment fun through the Rock and Recycle program,"
said Tom Peyton, senior manager of Honda national advertising. "Where else can you see terrific, diverse artists play, do a little recycling and win a new Honda Insight?"

The Insight is powered by a 1.3-liter SOHC aluminum-alloy i-VTEC engine in conjunction to an electric system. The electric engine has a maximum output of 10 kW (13 horsepower) and is based on energy-recovering technologies. The car uses a fuel consumption reduction technology designated by Honda as "Ecological Drive Assist System".

According to Honda, the company currently makes efforts to further improve gasoline-engine fuel efficiency by developing alternatives to gasoline, including natural gas and the hydrogen-powered fuel cell car, as well as technology for refueling alternative fuel vehicles.
