2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid Gets IIHS Top Safety Pick

The 2010 Ford Fusion is surely one of the most promoted model in the entire Ford production line, despite the fact that it hasn't reached the market yet. Every once in a while, the American company, which actually struggles to cope with the economic recession, launches eulogistic press statements that do nothing more than to emphasize the advanced features this particular model has to offer.

Today for instance, Ford proudly announced that both the 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, along with their hybrid flavors, received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) "Top Safety Pick" rating. Obviously, the American automaker was absolutely delighted with the award and said that consumers who are looking for a Ford can now opt for both impressive fuel efficiency and advanced safety.

“Customers no longer have to choose between fuel economy and safety – now they can have both with the Fusion and Escape hybrids,” said Susan Cischke, group vice president, Ford Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering.

To give you an idea, the 2010 Ford Fusion sports an impressive array of safety features, starting with the standard six airbags and Ford's Personal Safety System, Beltminder and tire pressure monitoring system and ending with BLISS, Cross Traffic Alert, 911 Assist and SYNC.

“We know people want to stay connected in their vehicles, so we’re delivering that connectivity for them responsibly and safely,” Cischke said. “Our research backs up what most of us instinctively know – that it’s better while driving to place a call using a voice interface than dialing manually, so you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.”
