2010 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak Program Released - Hemi Inside

Mopar, Chrysler’s parts and customization division, introduced its 2010 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program. After its 2009 program saw the entire 100 factory-built batch being sold, the company has developed a (non-street legal) V8 powered, rear-wheel drive bespoke racing version of the Dodge Challenger.

The racer is powered by a 6.1 liter Hemi V8, which can be mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic. The racecar is based on the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and finished in a Stock Eliminator configuration. This means that Mopar ditched multiple components and systems of the stock car to save weight. And they’ve done a pretty good job, considering that 1,000 pounds have been thrown out the window.

"We're proud of our drag racing heritage at Mopar and we will continue to support our drag-race customers where they compete," said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer - Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care, Chrysler Group LLC. "The Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program was a success last year, and we'll be carrying that momentum into our 2010 build," he added.

The racer features drag-race components such as composite lift-off hood with functional scoop, Dodge Viper-style front seats, polycarbonate door windows, a lightweight cooling system, no power steering, bespoke lightweight front-brake assemblies and others.

The car comes finished in a retro Stone White paint and is eligible for NHRA Stock, Super Stock and Comp Eliminator drag racing. Customers who fancy this kind of motoring adventures will have to wait until summer and pay $39,999 for the car.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak program commemorated the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart and Plymouth Hemi Barracuda package cars. However, the vintage heroes were sold as running cars with VIN identifications while the ‘09 and ‘10 modern interpretations are not allowed to set wheel on the road.
