Buick has just confirmed that its latest 2010 LaCrosse luxury sedan will be displayed at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 12 and issued a statement providing more details about the upcoming model. Basically, the new Buick comes with a choice of two engines, 3.0- and 3.6-liter, plus a six-speed automatic transmission, particularly aimed at reducing fuel consumption and providing a smoother ride.

“The new LaCrosse was created with great attention to detail, craftsmanship and advanced technology,” said Susan Docherty, Buick-Pontiac-GMC vice president. “It builds on the success of Enclave as the next step in Buick’s revitalization. And, as with Enclave, our goal is to attract a whole new buyer to our dealerships for LaCrosse.”

While the exterior is mostly similar to the one of Buick Invicta concept showcased at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show, the interior comes with a two-tone paint, analog instrument cluster plus Buick's QuietTuning, a newly-designed method to reduce interior noise.

In terms of equipment, the 2010 LaCrosse sports in-dash navigation, Bluetooth support, USB connectivity and auxiliary audio input. The rear-seat passengers get a DVD entertainment system with two LCD screens mounted into the seatbacks. In addition, the new Buick incorporates the Side Blind Zone system which notifies the driver every time a vehicle is traveling in the blind spot in order to prevent collisions.

And speaking of collisions, the model has several advanced safety features, starting with front-, side- and roof-mounted head-curtain air bags, StabiliTrak stability- and traction-control system and ending with Buick's OnStar system.

The upcoming model will arrive in three different models, as it follows (all details are provided by Buick):

1. CX – equipped with a new 3.0L direct injection V-6, premium cloth seats and 17-inch wheels. The 3.0L engine generates an estimated 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 211 lb.-ft. of torque (286 Nm) and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

2. CXL – also equipped with the new 3.0L direct injection V-6, adds leather-appointed heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, fog lamps, outside rearview mirror with LED turn indicators and puddle lamps, and 18-inch wheels. Intelligent AWD is available.

3. CXS – equipped with a 3.6L direct injection V-6; real-time active-dampening suspension; perforated, leather-appointed, heated and cooled seats, and chrome-plated 18-inch wheels (19-inch optional). The 3.6L engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, generates an estimated 280 horsepower (209 kW) and 261 lb.-ft. of torque (354 Nm).

The new model is set to reach mass-production this summer, with the Fairfax Assembly facility in Kansas City, Kansas the only plant to manufacture it.
