The 2010 Buick LaCrosse recently earned a top safety pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It achieved a good rating in the four-crash simulation conducted by the institute, which makes it one of the safest cars in the local market.
“Institute tests represent the four most common kinds of crashes,” Adrian Lund, IIHS president said in a release. “Getting through these tough tests and earning the Institute’s highest award means the LaCrosse is in the top tier for safety.”
Buick LaCrosse is offered in three different versions, as it follows:
1. CX – equipped with a new 3.0L direct injection V-6, premium cloth seats and 17-inch wheels. The 3.0L engine generates an estimated 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 211 lb.-ft. of torque (286 Nm) and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
2. CXL – also equipped with the new 3.0L direct injection V-6, adds leather-appointed heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, fog lamps, outside rearview mirror with LED turn indicators and puddle lamps, and 18-inch wheels. Intelligent AWD is available.
3. CXS – equipped with a 3.6L direct injection V-6; real-time active-dampening suspension; perforated, leather-appointed, heated and cooled seats, and chrome-plated 18-inch wheels (19-inch optional). The 3.6L engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, generates an estimated 280 horsepower (209 kW) and 261 lb.-ft. of torque (354 Nm).
It has a starting price of $27,835, including $750 destination charge, for the CX version equipped with the 3.0l direct injection V6 engine which generates 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 217 lb-ft of torque. It is also offered with a 3.6l and an Ecotec 2.4l four-cylinder engine.
