We're not sure if the reason behind the heavy rain that continued during the morning was the fact that we danced naked the other night (OK, we didn't do that, but some of us told the Namibians they did), but the rain slowly became a true nightmare for each of us.

We traveled back to Okapuka to recover our SUVs, after which we started a 200 km route on paved roads and in the desert to face the tough weather conditions. It was the moment when we smiled for the first time that day thanks to the high ground clearance of the X5s. We crossed the savannas in no-time with around 40 – 50 km/h, mostly because we were assaulted by suicidal birds, pigs who believed they have the right to block the road and irresponsible giraffes.

We finally reached the Erindi Rach at about 4 p.m., starved of course, but the way we were treated was absolutely remarkable. Large and luxurious rooms with TV, air conditioning, huge bathrooms, long and comfortable beds, all of these in the middle of the savanna.

After a quick shower (some of us actually thought we were talking about a quickie, but that wasn't the case), we stepped into a new Land Rover and started searching for elephants.

Just like a beautiful lady who plays hard to get, it took us a while until we finally saw their trunks in front of our amazed faces. Lucky us, because the guide was pretty well prepared not only from a physical standpoint, but also from a cars' know-how perspective, as he knew almost everything about locking differentials.

We've learned the hard way that in the desert, temperatures tend to change every hour. If it's cloudy, you're recommended to take a rain coat but also a jacket against wind. Still, the sun can show its face anytime, the heat can become very powerful in a minute, so you'd better have some lotion around.

During the night, it is as cold as in a fridge or, at least, that's how we felt. Namibians knew we must take care of our delicate skin (don't laugh, we do have a delicate skin), so the Land Rover was equipped with aftermarket blankets for each of us. A quick picnic once again and we were ready to go.

The Enridi Ranch view was pretty different from what we've seen in the other Namibian farms. Almost any tree around was damaged and the main responsible for this were the elephants who are actually the unofficial owners of the land.
