2010 BMW X1 Official Spyshots Released

The newest and smallest X in the BMW range, the X1, is getting closer and closer to its official unveiling. As every self-conscious company, the German manufacturer last week revealed the first official photos of the new model, other than the ones featuring the X1 Concept shown on the company's Facebook page.

The photos were leaked following a press preview test drives in Mallorca, Spain. The photos posted by BMW show the car still in its camouflage guise, awaiting the first public appearance at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show in September, bmwblog.com reported.

The initial batches of the X1 will not take to the US, until at least 2010. For the European market, BMW plans three engine choices for the X1, as well as using it as a platform for the launch of a new color for its vehicles, the so called Marrakesh Brown.

For the earlier models, the X1 will come fitted with BMW's xDrive, but a rear wheel drive version is to be expected later on. To come back on the engines, they are presented below:

  • BMW X1 xDrive20d - 177 hp - 0-60 mph in 8.4 seconds/top speed 132 mph (213 km/h)/fuel consumption 40.5 mph (5.8 liters / 100 km)
  • BMW X1 xDrive23d - 204 hp - 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds/top speed 138 mph (223 km/h)/fuel consumption 37 mpg (6,3 Liter / 100 km)
  • BMW X1 xDrive28i - 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds/top speed 142 mph(230 km/h)

Prices for the new X1 have not yet been released, but, as we said, it is expected that the company will present the full specs and official photos of the X1 in the following weeks.
