2010 BMW 5 Series Sedan Teaser Photo and Video

Faster than expected, German carmaker BMW released today the first teaser photo and video of the upcoming BMW 5 Series sedan. Together with the first official shots of the car, BMW took it upon itself to release, starting today, new material about the car, until its official unveiling on November 23 (making it, by all intents and purposes, a 2010 model year and not a 2011, as we believed until now).

"The World Premiere of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, the synonym for aesthetics and Driving Pleasure in the premium middlerange segment, is about to take place.(From today, we are releasing a short trailer teasing at the sporting and elegant design of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, using the kinetic sculpture from the BMW Museum to create the silhouette," BMW said in a release.

"On November 23rd, 8p.m. CET, the kinetic sculpture trailer will be replaced by a Live-Stream of the unveiling ceremony of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan."

During the past half a year, we kept bringing you spyshots showing the new 5 Series, as well as much information as we could gather.

As we reported, the new 5 Series is said to be powered by a 2.5l straight six as an entry level choice, with the top of the range version rumored to be the 4.4l turbocharged V8. As information kept surfacing, rumor of an ActiveHybrid increased in intensity.

An M version, planned for a later date, is said to pack a 4.4l unit (the one from the X5M and X6M). It develops 555 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, making the 5er one of the most powerful sedans out there.

All will be cleared, as BMW says, on November 23. Until then, we will keep you posted on the latest developments.
