2010 BMW 1 Series Lifestyle and Sport Editions

German manufacturer BMW released today details on the 2010 model year 1 Series, bringing along with it two additional low-emission engine variants, which will enter the market on the 1 Series Coupe in September.

The two new engines will come with the BMW 120i Coupe and the BMW 118d Coupe. Also in September, BMW will debut the Lifestyle and Sport Editions, based on both the BMW 1 Series three- and five-door.

The BMW 120i Coupe is powered by a 2.0l four-cylinder engine fitted with high precision Injection (direct gasoline injection). It develops 170 hp at 6,700 rpm and 210 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. This means the 120i accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and tops at a speed of 224 km/h (149 mph). Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle is 6.6l/100 km, while CO2 emission rating stands at 153g/km.

The second revised model to enter the market is, as we said, the BMW 118d Coupe. It is equipped with a 2.0l four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, developing 143 hp at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of torque. The unit propels the car from a standstill to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph).

As you can see, the engines are in fact tweaked versions of the same units found on the current version 1 Series. What comes as a novelty in September are the two special edition versions, the Lifestyle and Sport.

Both of them feature BMW's EfficientDynamics technologies: Brake Energy Regeneration, an Auto Start Stop function, a gearshift point indicator and ancillary units with on-demand management and control. Both edition models come as standard with the M Sports Package including the M Aerodynamics Package, a sports suspension set-up as well as 17-inch light-alloy wheels in dual-spoke design.

The Lifestyle Edition comes in Marrakesh Brown Metallic including additional components in body color and chrome-plated tailpipes as well as exclusive light-alloy rims in five-spoke design.

The interior matches the exterior color choice. Features include interior trim in high-gloss Marrakesh Brown, as well as door panels and seat upholstery in Magma Brown. And as an alternative to Network cloth, there is also the choice of Pearlpoint upholstery with Magma Brown cloth/leather.

The Sport edition follows the same matching interior-exterior queue found on the Lifestyle. It comes with sports seats for the driver and front passenger in a combination of cloth and Sensatec featuring blue ornamental stitching around the seat bottoms and headrests.
