2010 Aprilia RSV4 Introduced by Jay Leno

During the Piaggio Dealer Show, Jay Leno was the star appearance at the Piaggio Group America’s 2010 product introduction. The American comedian did his stand-up routine and then, along with Gary Pietruszewski, unveiled the much-anticipated 2010 model lineup to the dealers. The range included the 2010 Aprilia RSV4 Factory and the RSV4 R.

The RSV4R debuted at Imola WSB in September, ridden by Max Biaggi. Powering the RSV4 R is a super compact, 999.6 cc 65 degrees narrow V4 cylinder engine that develops a maximum power output of 180 hp.

The V4 employs multiple maps Ride by Wire technology in conjunction with an electronic injection system with dual injectors, a new solution in engine management. In fact, the RSV4 is the only roadgoing hypersports bike powered by a V4.

Both the frame and swingarm are made from aluminum using the same construction technology applied in GP machines. The new bike features a Magneti Marelli digital electronic ignition system integrated in engine control system, with one spark plug per cylinder and “stick-coil”-type coils.

As for the exhaust system, the RSV4 R has been fitted with a 4 into 2 into 1 layout, single lambda probe, lateral single silencer with engine control unit-controlled butterfly valve and integrated trivalent catalytic converter (Euro 3).

Additionally, Aprilia introduced the 850 Mana GT ABS. Other new scooters and motorcycles introduced included, the Vespa GTS 300, the LX 50 four valve and the new fuel-injected engines on the 150cc versions of the Vespa LX, S and LXV, the Moto Guzzi Stelvio 1200 ABS, and the Moto Guzzi V7 Café Classic.
