Czech manufacturer Skoda announced today the introduction on the Chinese market of their flagship Superb, renamed for the local market to Hao Rui. The event takes place almost two months after production of the Hao Rui began in China on June 11.
“China has developed into one of our most important markets within the framework of the Global Strategy of Skoda Auto. The country plays a significant role in the future development of the brand. Therefore, the presentation of the model Superb Hao Rui is an important step in the expansion on the Chinese market. Until the end of July of this year we have succeeded in delivering more than 56,000 vehicles to Chinese customers," Reinhard Jung, Skoda chairman of the board said at the vehicle's introduction.
"That is 57.2 % more than during the same period last year. The expansion of the model range with the Superb should lead to another noticeable increase in sales. Part of our strategy for the future is the introduction of one new model on the Chinese market every year,” he added.
For the Chinese market, the Hoa Rui will be available in four trim levels - Classic, Comfort, Comfort+ and Elegance – and will make use of a choice of three engines: 1.4 TSI, 1.8 TSI, and 2.0 TSI.
The Superb Hao Rui will join the existing Octavia Ming Rui and Fabia Jing Rui and will be distributed through a 200-strong dealership network. It began production at Volkswagen's plant in Shanghai, where the other two models are built as well.
And if you are not from China and you were wondering, Hao Rui stands for "better than you can imagine” or "boundless."
