Beside the official introduction of the Buick Business Hybrid concept, GM's unit also used the Auto Shanghai 2009 auto show to debut the new Regal 2.0-liter Turbo, the first model built in China that will be offered with a turbocharged engine.
The 2.0-liter Turbo Direct Injection engine generates a maximum power of 220 hp (162 kW) at 5,300 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. Furthermore, it helps the car sprint from naught to 100 km/h in no less than 7.8 seconds, becoming "the most powerful turbocharged engine on the market," as Buick proudly stated in a statement for the press. The unit is fully compliant with the Euro V emission regulations.
Overall, the new Regal is being offered in a choice of three engines, the aforementioned configuration plus a 2.0-l and a 2.4-liter ECOTEC option.
The 2.0-liter powerplant produces as much as 108 kW (144.8 horsepower) at 6,200 rpm plus a maximum torque of 190 Nm at 4,800 rpm and helps the car jump to 100 km/h in 11.4 seconds, with maximum speed of 197 km/h (122.5 mph). It achieves a fuel consumption rating of 8.8 l/100 km (26.7 mpg) in combined cycle.
On the other hand, the 2.4-liter configuration brings 125 kW (167.6 hp) at 6,400 rpm and a top torque of 225 Nm at 4,800 rpm. It helps the car reach 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds.
