How about some free new cars to race down the tracks featured in Sony’s Gran Turismo Sport Playstation 4 game? And while we’re at it, how about an additional track?
On Tuesday Sony announced the launch of a free November update, one which adds nine new cars and a new track to the game.
As of this month, players will be able to drive their vehicles on the tarmac of the Catalunya Circuit in Barcelona, the place where several high profile competitions take place, including a Formula 1 race.
As for the cars that have been added to the roster, the list of exotic machines starts with the 2009 Pagani Zonda R and continues with the 1984 Ferrari GTO and 2008 Maserati GranTurismo.
Less exotic, but equally thrilling, are the rest of the new cars: the 2008 Honda NSX, 2008 Lexus SC430, 2008 Nissan Nismo GT-R, 2005 MINI Cooper S and 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B-Sti. The oldest car in the pack is the 1961 Jaguar E-type.
Aside for the new cars and tracks, the creators of the game, Polyphony Digital, have added together with Sony two new GT leagues, one for beginners and one for professionals: MINI Challenge and X2014 Nations Cup.
“We hope you enjoy this month’s free update, and remember you can find all the latest GT info here on PlayStation Blog and on the official Gran Turismo website.” said the mastermind behind the game, Kazunori Yamauchi. “Until next time, drivers, we’ll see you out on the track.”
Grand Turismo Sport launched on PS4 in October 2017 and in less than ten months reached a staggering number of players. According to official figures, there were more than five million players taking part in the FIA GT Championship, meaning online play.
Given the fact that the game has a single player mode too, that means the actual number of players is probably much higher.
