The first AMG Sports package for the 2009 S Klasse and two CL models will soon out and will be available for another five Mercedes models. The package is meant to make both of Mercedes' lines "more striking than ever in terms of sportiness".
AMG's Sports package includes a front apron with large air intakes and a rear apron with black inserts and integrated, rectangular, polished stainless steel tailpipe trim. The wheels for the two lineups also carry the AMG signature, and come either as standard or as an option.
As standard, AMG provides 19 inch AMG light-alloy wheels with a five-spoke design and a wide base, measuring 255/40 for the front and 275/40 for the rear tires. Optionally, customers can go for larger, 20 inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a twin-spoke design, wearing 255/35 (front) and 275/35 (rear) tires.
To go with the wheels, AMG used perforated brake discs and silver-painted brake calipers featuring Mercedes-Benz lettering. For the V6 models, AMG will provide bigger braking systems.
As for the interior, wood and leather are the words of the day. The steering wheel comes in either wood in black ash or leather, to match the velour floor mats with AMG lettering and sports pedals in brushed stainless steel with rubber studs.
As we said, the AMG Sports package is available for the entire S Klasse line-up, as well as for the CL500 and CL500 4MATIC. The add-on cost in between 5831 and 7973 euros, VAT included. It will become available for purchase no sooner than June, but the good news is that the package can also be fitted on the new E Klasse saloon, E Klasse coupe and the C Klasse.
