2009 Lexus RX Launched in Australia

Lexus today launched the all-new 2009 RX model in Australia representing the first RX in this neck of the woods since 2003. Obviously, the 2009 RX incorporates several upgraded features that differentiate it from its predecessors, with Lexus particularly focused on safety, fuel efficiency and comfort.

First of all, the exterior brings a 0.33 drag coefficient which, in collaboration with AWD and a six-speed transmission provides a fuel economy improvement by seven percent. In addition, the climate control, interior packaging and body construction upgrades also enhance fuel economy while providing the same occupant comfort and safety as the previous models, Lexus praised the features of the new RX in a statement for the press.

"The Lexus RX has been, and continues to be, a pioneer. It is effectively responsible for establishing the luxury SUV vehicle segment. The RX is one of the most important vehicles in Lexus’ line-up and as such it is a rolling demonstration of our continued pursuit of perfection," Lexus Chief Executive John Roca said.

Other feature highlights include a reversing camera, wide-view side camera, parking sensors, pre-crash safety system, VDIM system plus upgrades of Lexus Remote Touch system (said to reduce occupant eye movement away from the road by up to 30 percent) mounted on the center console plus cooling and heating improvements.

"The RX has been completely redesigned with an attention to detail that pushed for efficiency, comfort and safety every step of the way. In fact, the RX is the closest we’ve been to perfection, but we all know that reaching perfection isn’t the aim - its constantly searching for and delivering better ways of doing things that sets Lexus and the RX apart ," Roca concluded.
