2009 Ford Ranger Facelift Official Photos

The upcoming 2009 Geneva Auto Show will not find Ford's good old Ranger unprepared. The American manufacturer went about its business and gave the pick-up truck a facelift, so the car could be more to the liking of European customers.

The 2009 Ranger will come equipped with two turbo diesel engines in both the 4x2 and the 4x4 configuration, carscoop reports. Both engines are 4 cylinder powerplants and give you a choice between either the 2.5l 143 horsepower one or the 3.0l 156 horsepower Duratorq. Both of them can be controlled by two transmission units.

Europeans will probably go for the five speed manual gearbox, while the rest can rely on a five speed automatic one. As you would expect from a truck, the Ranger has a 3,000kg or 6,614-lbs. towing capability with both power units.

The model, which will be built in Thailand, has three body style configurations: Single Cab, Rear Acces Panel (RAP) and Double Cab. All these body versions received the same facelift. The front of the car is dominated by the three-piece chrome grille, domed hood and restyled headlamps. Changes have also been made to the Rangers' tail lamp.

The car has received new exterior mirrors and side air-vents. Inside changes include newly designed seats and door panels, as well as new colors and trimmings. The 2009 facelifted model will also feature an MP3-compatible stereo for the first time.

The 2009 Ford Ranger will become available for the European market after the Geneva Auto Show. Depending on the body type, engine, transmission and other choices you make, the Ranger will cost you between $14,700 and $27,600.
