Sure, fans of the original first-generation Shelby GT500 will say that you either go classic or go home when in search of collectible status, but we’re more inclined towards also having a bit of gray area in between. After all, not everyone has deep enough pockets to get the original.
Those on a tighter budget than Ford’s asking price of almost $73k for a current Shelby GT500 could find an alternative befitting of their collectible yearning in this second-generation, late-model year listing from Garage Kept Motors.
The 2009 Mustang Shelby GT500 can be had for $37,900, which is almost half the price of the 2020 GT500. But that’s not all that recommends this pristine-looking Vista Blue with white stripes and matching cue ball shifter example, which is one of just 3,004 coupes (no. 1,549 according to the provided documentation).
Judged solely by the Vista Blue and white stripe looks, the GT500 could have easily been part of the 1960s world of wonders, but when someone is working with a tight budget, it’s best to have just the vintage looks and some modern technologies under the great-looking metal.
