2009 Concept Vehicle of the Year Winners

The eight annual North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards designated this year's winner at a ceremony held in Michigan last night. Although less impressive than similar competitions the likes of the European Car of the Year Award or the World Car of the Year, the ceremony is intended to pay tribute to today's concept vehicles which have the biggest chance at changing the future of the automotive industry. To cut right into it, Fisker Automotive and their Karma Sunset Concept got the 2009 Production Preview Vehicle of the Year. The Volkswagen Concept BlueSport Roadster received the 2009 Concept Car of the Year award, while the Kia Soul'ster received the Concept Truck of the Year title.
The Most Significant Concept Vehicle of 2009 was designated as being the Cadillac Converj, making for the fifth time that a GM concept has earned the top spot. In all, the bankrupt American manufacturer entered 28 category finalists and brought home 11 titles.

The Concept Car of the Year awards are organized by the South East Automotive Media Organization. A jury of automotive journalists selected the winners from 23 Concept Vehicles and 11 Production Preview Vehicles that debuted during the 2009 North American Auto Show season.
