2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S on steroids

A teaspoon with 50 horsepower and  a pinch  of 70 Nm of torque are the latest additions to the recipe of the Cayenne  Turbo  found by German engineers. Adding a new dish to the menu of the SUV market under the name of Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, freshly presented an the Beijing Auto Show, the machine is a preview of the production version that will be available this summer.

The result is a spicy formula, capable of 550 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 750 Nm at 2250,  enough  to digest the 100 Km/h  mark in 4.8 seconds and surpass the 280 Km/h mark. With a modified exhaust and tweaked  engine electronics of the Cayenne Turbo, the new Cayenne is not only a serious competitor for the 510 Hp Mercedes ML 63 AMG, but also  the  most powerful SUV in the history of Porsche. After the launch of the second generation of the already famous SUV in 2007, the Turbo S was the only version missing in the range, tricking the competition into thinking that Porsche had abandoned the horsepower race.

But now, the king is back to claim his crown, not only with more muscle but also with more agility, featuring air suspension, ride-height control, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) , Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and Servotronic speed-sensitive variable power steering, all as standard equipment. As a premiere to the SUV segment, the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) will be optionally available on all models of the Cayenne range, in 2009.

And to add even more charm to the new formula, the Turbo S comes as standard with front sport seats with Comfort Memory Package, rear seating with individual seat contours, aluminum door panels showing the model name and two exclusive dual-color leather upholstery combinations (black / Havana and black / steel gray).

As far as on-board gadgets are concerned, the new model gets all the best from the rest of the range, including voice actuation for the navigation system, universal audio interface, Bluetooth and the latest generation of Porsche Communication Multimedia System Management (PCM). The standard sound system is a 14 speaker BOSE Surround Sound pumping out 410 watts on power. According to the producer, the Cayenne Turbo S will hit the market in August this year, at a base price of 111,400 Euro.
