2,000 HP Toyota Supra Is How They Do Business in Qatar

We're pretty sure that when Toyota introduced the fourth-generation Supra over two decades ago, the Japanese engineers had wild dreams about their creations. Even so, we don't think they expected the platform to become a popularity monster in the drag racing world.

The latest example that comes to show how much love the Supra gets from the drag strip community comes all the way from Qatar. We're dealing with a team called Al Anabi Performance, whose contraption is one badass Toyota.

Their Supra is an in-house build, with most of the credit for the car's power going to a gigantic 98mm turbocharger. The setup can deliver up to 85 psi of boost and these people aren't afraid of tapping into that potential.

OK, but what about the numbers this Toyota Supra can deliver?

Speaking of which, we have to explain that unleashing this Supra means bringing 2,000 hp to the drag strip. This is the kind of machine being used for 1/8-mile shenanigans, so we have to discuss numbers, right?

When it comes to how fast this Supra can fly down the strip, we'll tell you the thing can pull a 4.38s run at 170 mph (make that 273.7 km/h if you happen to be a metric system fan).

As you can imagine, the Supra we're discussing here also comes with a soundtrack that can make the whole drag strip shake, rattle and roll, so, performance aside, we're dealing with a guaranteed attention magnet.

In case you feel the need to dig deeper into the Qatar drag racing scene, you can check out our previous stories on the topic. People in that part of the world are huge car aficionados and while many of their machines have a strong US influence, examples such as this Supra show the variety of the racing vehicle pool.
