2,000 HP Nissan GT-R Spills Oil, Slips and Crashes into Wall at Well Over 100 MPH

Alas, as the monster was about to reach the 1/4 mile point, an oil line burst, with the GT-R slipping on its own fluid. The racecar hit the wall hard, at well over 100 MPH.

Now, we have two pieces of good news. First of all, the driver walked aways from the crash, which, at that kind of speeds, is no easy conclusion. As for the car, this still runs and its extreme power setup will be transfered into another GT-R that aims to return to the 7s arena soon.

Yes, when we are talking about such drag racers, the base car is treated like a spare part. Such cars can end up costing anywhere between $200,000 and $300,000, so the price of the base vehicle falls to second place.

Speaking of the setup, the exact hp number is not mentioned, but it's not hard to guess it. This GT-R uses an AMS Performance setup. And its runs in the 7s range, just as AMS' test bed, the Alpha Omega GT-R.

The Alpha Omega regained the fastest GT-R in the world status last month, with the behemoth, which delivers over 2,000 hp at the wheel, pulling a 7.485s pass.
