2,000 HP Huracan 1/4-Mile Record War: Underground Racing vs. Heffner Performance

As it happens, war always leads to a boost in technical progress, and this also applies in the world of drag racing. Nowadays, one of the fiercest battlefields has to do with the Lamborghini Huracan.

Now that the Sant'Agata Performance platform is no longer too fresh for aftermarket developments, a pair of US tuners have engaged in a battle that sees the two companies pushing their 2000+ hp (crank horsepower) Huracans further and further.

Back in March, Underground Racing and Heffner Performance started throwing one drag strip punch after another, with this meaning that the Huracan quarter mile world record jumped from one company to another like a high-octane bunny.

While we showed you the most important episodes, we're now back on the topic with a piece of footage that includes each and every stage of the fight.

For now, the record sits with Underground Racing, which, as far as we know, hasn't even used its most powerful Huracan, the 2,300+ hp UR2, in this adventure, going for the UR1 Lambo instead.

The main difference between the two concerns the transmission department. While the UR1 uses a dual-clutch setup, which also targets usability (because you need 2,000 ponies on the street, right?), the UR1, which is used in half-mile racing, comes with the racing world's favorite setup, namely a sequential box.

For the sake of comparison, we'll mention the UR2 managed to pull a 7.8s 1,320 feet run, while a stock Lamborghini Huracan can complete the task in 10.4 seconds. As for how far the stock engine and dual-clutch gearbox can be pushed, a 9s run is the best we've seen so far, but we expect to affect reliability, so we're not big fans of such shenanigans.

However, the war is far from over, so expect to hear more from the pair of developers later in the year. And while you wait, make sure you check out the clip below - when was the last time you saw a Lamborghini pulling a wheelie, albeit a microscopic one, using street tires?
