200 Vipers in One Awesome Photo

Many people went crazy about Katie Melua singing about the nine million bicycles in Beijing, but today we have something that’s even hotter - two hundred Vipers in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Hell yeah, somebody should write a song about that.

Until that happens, we’ve brought you the image above and trust us, you’ll want to bathe in its panoramic depths. The pic captures the deadly animal invasion that was the Viper Owners Association’s first annual meeting - these guys got together earlier this year, creating a new club for all Viper owners. We checked and they’ve even built a network of 34 local affiliate regions, covering many states, as well as Canda, Japan and the UK.

Vipers from all three generations got together before hitting the Chrysler Proving Ground high-speed oval the following day, where they bathed in the triple-digit area, as well as pulled autocross stunts.

Let’s go over some numbers, shall we? The 200 Vipers mean this image brings together at least 1,600 liters of displacement, as well as north of 100,000 ponies.

It’s such a pity that Chrysler only sold 354 units of the 2014 SRT Viper through June - the headcount was done before the vehicle was rebranded as a Dodge Viper SRT and we’ll remind you the production went on and off this year, all due to the poor demand.

We found the most profound American experience when we reviewed the Viper and we’d love to see the situation change. Apparently, Chrysler’s supercar has reached some sort of... few men’s land. On one hand, its pricing puts it way out of reach for Corvette buyers, which come in much larger number.

By the way, word has it that you can grab a brand spanking new 2014 SRT Viper for thirty percent under its MSRP, which means you can get one on your driveway for about 90 grand.

Even without such moves, the Viper should steal a lot of customers from Italian exotics. Whether we’re talking bang for buck or fun-to-price, this deadly snake trashes your Ferraris and Lamborghinis. Alas, many prefer to spend double or triple for the status and interior quality premium brought by the Italians...
