VW’s US arm is expanding operations at its new Chattanooga, Tenn site, with the company aiming to expand production capacity by 13 percent. The move also means that the automotive producer is set to add 200 new jobs, as The Detroit News writes.
The new positions bring the workforce at the facility to 2,700 heads, with the figure including 500 people working at VW’s staffing partner Aerotek. Ryan Rose, VW's general manager of human resources, explained that these 200 new openings will be full-time jobs.
Thus, the plant will see its production capacity increased to 35 units per hour from the current 31, with the site running on two shifts to bring the Passat to the world - the US Passat is different to the Euro-spec one.
