We have all heard about Dubai Police’s impressive car fleet. Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, BMW i8 - you name it, they’ll have it. We also know these beauties are used in touristic areas of the eccentric UAE city, which means not a lot of car chasing, drifting and such will be seen coming from their side. In fact, judging by the fine this young Nissan Patrol driver received the other day, they also don’t agree with other motorists conducting such behaviour.
So this fellow jumps in his rather old model 4x4 SUV in the middle of the night and goes all 99 shades of drifting and rubber burning. No problem so far, especially that judging by the images there was no traffic in the area. But then, he thinks having one of his pals filming the whole thing and then posting it on social media would be a smart thing to do. Wrooong!

The Emirati youngster received a huge fine worth $136,122 (Dh500,000) for doing this prank; that's about double, if not triple of what the car he was driving is worth. Apparently, the fine equals the financial losses resulting from the motorist’s antics calculated by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.

This kind of behaviour is unacceptable. We live in a civilized country, and the government has shelled out a lot of money to put in place a robust road infrastructure that ensures traffic safety.” That's the statement Major General Khamis Matar Al Mazeina, Commander in Chief of the Dubai Police did. The video he posted on social media only worsened things since it seems residents of the nearing area were the ones to notify the police in the first place.

Even though it feels like the police used this youngster as an example for any other motorists planning to have similar adventures, the message is quite clear: don’t burn rubbers in Dubai unless you can afford paying the penalty.
