How’s this for a blinding sight? A $20 million superyacht docked in Central London the other day, in preparation for London Fashion Week, and it’s already the talk of the town.
That’s because the superyacht, now known as Bellami, is wrapped in gold. Work on it was done a couple of months ago at the Port of Viareggio, Italy, by LuxWrap and it was billed the “largest chrome wrap” in the world. Not only was it large, but it was also done while the yacht was fully submerged in water.
You can see a video of it at the bottom of the page. The team worked almost non-stop for 13 days (they would have finished the job in 10, had it not started to rain) and used 600smg of gold chrome vinyl wrap, wrapping everything from the exterior, the jacuzzi area and the swim steps, and also the Seabobs, Jetskis and Tender boat.
The goal was to make the superyacht even more outstanding, to take it on a promotional tour across the Mediterranean, before sailing into London. It is now owned by Bellami Hair, the self-proclaimed world’s largest hair extension supplier – and that’s why it’s in London for Fashion Week.
Reports in the British media say that, while in Canary Wharf, the yacht will be re-wrapped, but so far, there’s no word on that from the company supposed to be carrying out the job, LuxWrap. Either way, it’s already caused a stir, with residents telling the media that it stands for everything that’s wrong with the world today, that it’s tacky or unnecessary.
That aside, the Bellami is getting ready to receive celebrity and fashion people in town for Fashion Week. To the end of delivering luxury entertainment to them (only 12 at a time), it is fitted with a spa and a glass waterfall, a fully equipped hair salon (of course!), 6 staterooms, a large pool and jacuzzi.
The Daily Mail says that the Bellami was built in Turkey in 2008 and delivered to the owner that same year. In 2018, it was refitted and renamed, from Kinta to Bellami. “The interiors of the boat were designed by Jean-Guy Verges. The boat cruises at 13.5kn and reaches a top speed of 16.0kn,” says the publication.
