In case you’re not one of those celebrities that actually affords changing cars like socks, then we’re pretty sure you take good care of your daily driver and hope it will take you as far as possible. But not many people can say they drove the same car for over one million miles.
YouTube user David Braasch’s father owns a 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle he claims to have turned over 1 million miles this weekend, so he decided he’d film the moment. The video documents the last few miles before a million mark, as the driver explains how this was possible. The man is a courier and says he drives about 360 miles (580 km) every workday. He remembered that it took several months for the car to be shipped after he ordered, but it was definitely worth it.

Same engine for 918,000 miles (1,47 million km)

Most of the parts that move in the vehicle were either replaced or repaired, but he always tried to keep the engine as original as possible. However, as David explains in the description of the video, the car’s original motor lasted until about 918,000 miles (1,47 million km). Now the car has a rebuilt engine with about 82,000 miles (131,966 km) on it.

Everything is fun and all as the little interview makes for a classic father-and-son story, except for the last minutes of the video. For some reason they sort of reach out for Volkswagen saying “maybe they give my dad a recognition for taking care of this car for some many years and putting down so many miles”. If this was the only reason they did the story, it's too bad because that is a heck of a car.
