1993 Toyota Land Cruiser Goes Around the World in Fund-Raising Expedition

Even if it’s an over 20-years-old vehicle, the Toyota Land Cruiser is definitely a vehicle able to safely take you in a cross-continent expedition, if it’s properly cared after of course.

And a team of brave men is almost ready to prove this in an upcoming marathon that will cover over 4,600 miles (7,400 km) and cross 17 different countries en route from Afghanistan to England.

Their route starts from Kabul and will end at the Goodwood racetrack in Sussex, UK, around three weeks later.

But we forgot to mention the brave team... how rude... As and ex-marine who wants to encourage other veterans in their civilian life readjustment, Chris Short will be leading the expedition.

However, he will be covering the distance on an all-terrain motorbike. The restored 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser will be driven by Domenic Sanger-Schenk and it will be loaded with supplies and spares. The team is joined by Laurence Cameron who will be recording the trip for a television documentary.

“Car brands often talk about adventure, but this is a properly epic and inspiring journey that we are sure will provide great images and stories for the readers of our blog, and bring in funds for a worthy cause. Given Land Cruiser’s unmatched reputation as the ‘indestructible’ 4×4, we’re sure they’ve chosen the best vehicle for the daunting journey ahead,” said Toyota press relations and social media general manager Scott Brownlee.

For local security reasons, the expedition’s departure date is not being announced until the last minute.
