It has been 70 years since Ford first introduced their F-150 pickup truck. Spanning over fourteen generations, the F-150 has become an American icon and one of the most popular choices when it comes to purchasing a vehicle of this category. If you'll ask ten different people which generation they like the most, you might just get ten different answers. It's all a matter of taste, budget, and several other factors.
But today we're looking at a 1993 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, which is part of the ninth generation of F-150 trucks that were manufactured between 1991 and 1997. The SVT (Special Vehicle Team) Lightning is the performance version of the F-150, meant to offer owners a slightly more visceral experience, as compared to the more down-to-earth trims.

The SVT Lightning came as a response to Chevrolet's 454SS, which was launched a few years earlier. While Chevrolet opted for a massive 7.4-liter V8 for their truck, Ford went for a slightly smaller, 5.8-liter V8 motor instead. Even so, the Ford Windsor engine did come with an extra 10 horsepower compared to Chevrolet, as officials figures claim 240 horsepower and 340 lb-ft (461 Nm) of torque.

The SVT Lightning featured a series of upgrades compared to the standard F-150, and it was said to be capable of achieving 0.88 g lateral acceleration during tests. Only three colors were available (black, red, and white), and official figures show that some 11,563 F-150 SVT Lightning trucks were ever built. This means that the truck being sold by PC Classic Cars is one of just 4,897 black ones ever manufactured.

The vehicle is now being offered for $45,500, which means it's more expensive than a brand new 2021 F-150 XLT with a 5.0-liter V8 under the hood. But honestly speaking, this might just be one of the cleanest SVT Lightning models of this generation we've ever seen, as the odometer only shows 1,918 miles (3,086 km). There's no rust to be seen anywhere and the interior looks like it's brand new; it's almost as if it was preserved in bubble wrap.

The truck is located in Sherman, Texas, and it comes fitted with 17-inch Lightning wheels with 275/60 tires on it. It did go through a paint correction recently, and with the ceramic coating, you can also use it as your mirror. We also get to see a video of the car in the dealership, and the quietness of the exhaust leads us to believe that its next owner might just swap in a more potent engine, to really get this thing moving.
