Twenty-five years ago, Land Rover introduced its then-new 1990 Range Rover in the U.S. by inviting member of the media on a 12-day Great Divide Expedition. To celebrate this incredible event, Land Rover is announced that it is recreating a similar route with the 2014 Range Rover, and creating a replica of the 1990 model to sell on eBay.
The auction for this completely restored 1990 Range Rover kicked off earlier this week, and as of this writing, the bids are up to $33,800. As Land Rover previously stated, the winning bidder of this vehicle will also get to participate in the 25th Anniversary Great Divide Expedition, which will run from September 3-12. All of the money raised from the online auction will be donated to Tread Lightly!, an organization that promotes and teaches the responsible off-roading while focusing on conservation, too.

As for the build, Land Rover started out with a 1990 Range Rover that was originally purchased in San Francisco, and it has less than 130,000 miles on the odometer. The body was completely stripped down for a true frame-off-restoration. Remanufactured and original factory parts were used when possible, but the factory-trained Land Rover technicians would rebuild parts and components back to factory spec if no replacement part could be located. From the looks of it, this Range Rover is as fresh as the day it rolled off the assembly line including the interior and the refinished three-spoke wheels.

Everything was rebuilt back to factory specs, and Land Rover even replicated the original look of the Great Divide models right down to the roof rack and body decals. As an added bonus, Land Rover also released a time-lapsed video of the build. Check it out below, and if you’re interested in bidding, head on over to eBay for more information.
