Arguably one of the most special Corvette variants put into production, the C4 ZR-1 is one of the rarest and most sought after Vettes ever made. So when a pristine condition 2,892-mile ZR-1 shows up on the Internet for just $47,900, you might as well call it a steal that occurs as rare as hen's teeth.
Forget the low original miles or the rust-free Bright Red bodywork. This car's centerpiece is hidden beneath that long and sleek bonnet. There you'll find a hand-built LT5 small block V8 displacing 350 cubic inches (5.7-liters). Bearing in mind it was the '90s, the Mercury Marine-developed mill featured an all-aluminium block and 32-valve dual overhead cam heads, which was a radical design for an American sports car from that day and age.

Before the oomph was bumped to 405 horsepower for the 1993 ZR-1 Corvette, the engine was good for 375 horsepower, which was enough to propel the Chevrolet-Mercury Marine joint effort to 60 miles per hour in a mere 4.5 seconds. A stock MerCruiser LT5-powered ZR-1 broke three world records in 1991 by traveling 4,221 miles at an average speed of 175.8 miles per hour. Jaw-dropping stuff happening under the hood of this Vette, huh?

The car featured in our photo gallery is advertised by RK Motors Charlotte for a reasonable amount of money taking into consideration that it comes with thorough documentation, a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox and FX3 adjustable suspension. Even the brake pads are original and in perfect working condition, while the 17-inch wheels are wrapped in factory fresh Goodyear Eagle tires. The Bright Red exterior is carried on in the cabin thanks to the Flame Red leather presenting itself in top-notch condition.

Every switch and dial is working, as well as the digital instrument cluster. The seller will also offer two removable tops to the lucky future owner of this 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, along with a driver's manual, gold key chain, two books detailing the '90 and '91 Chevrolet Corvette and even the factory protective steering wheel cover.

This is as close to a showroom fresh ZR-1 as you'll get without a time machine, so make your mind up already.
