Abandoned cars typically look heartbreaking and depressing, and it’s often impossible to understand how some people just decide to leave them locked up in a barn instead of selling them to diehards who’d properly take care of everything and make sure they stay in good condition.
Fortunately, this 1989 Jaguar XJ12 is about to get a second chance thanks to the folks over at LUDEN Automotive. As explained in a video published recently, the Jaguar is actually a barn find, so it falls in the same category that we told you about earlier.

But as it usually happens with a barn find, before deciding what to do with the car, a thorough wash is a must-have, as it helps better determine the good and the bad parts of an abandoned car.

And fortunately, this 1989 Jaguar XJ12 has a lot of good parts, albeit the new owners explain that a decision regarding its future is yet to be made.

The washing, however, is a good opportunity for everybody to see how an abandoned car can transform in just a matter of minutes. And while such a model can look awful covered by vegetation, with the right care it could end up becoming a head-turner.

Leaving aside the design part, the ‘89 Jaguar XJ12 itself is a great car anyway. It was powered by a 5.3-liter V12 engine that developed 285 horsepower and 399 Nm (294 lb-ft) of torque, and thank God it still looks in good condition on this barn find.

The good news is that the 1989 Jaguar XJ12 isn’t necessarily a rare model, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find parts that would help power a full restoration. Of course, should the new owners decide it’s worth the effort. According to the official numbers, Jaguar produced some 10,500 units of the Series 3 XJ12 equipped with the V12 engine detailed above between 1979 and 1992.
