1979 Mini 1000 Barn Find Gets Its First Wash in 25 Years

One of the best moments in the new life of a barn find is the first car wash, as this is pretty much the perfect occasion to get rid of all the dust and mold that’s been sitting on its body after spending so much time abandoned.

Of course, a thorough wash is also needed to determine the condition of a barn find as well, especially because the dust and the mold we were talking about could also hide more severe damage and rust.

The 1979 Mini 1000 that we have here is actually a restored model that has been brought back together in some two years, and after such a hard work to breathe new life into the car, the owner finally has the occasion to clean it thoroughly.

The proud Mini owner, who has documented all the restoration work on his YouTube channel called Mini Matt TV, explains this is the first proper wash in over 25 years for this car.

The Mini 1000 here is yet to receive a new paint job, and the car wash obviously reveals all the places where fixes are required, but this isn’t necessarily surprising. This is an old car, after all, and a proper paint job that would help deal with all the problems that it recorded during this whole thing is absolutely a must have.

But this doesn’t mean that the Mini doesn’t look good, and the scratches are all things that can easily be repaired for a refreshed exterior. How long this is going to take is something that only the owner knows, but it goes without saying that a thorough job here is required as well.

Restoring classic cars isn’t a one-week job, and the Mini here deserves all the attention that it can receive to get back in tip-top shape after all these years.
