BMW art cars are some of the most sought after vehicles on the market right now, and the one you see here is the M1 Procar, which was painted by Frank Stella back in 1979. Jonathan Sobel, owner of BMW of Southampton, is now the first private owner of a BMW art car, as he purchased it at the Bonhams auction in Pebble Beach on August 18, 2011.

There are only 18 BMW art cars in the world, and this is the own one that the automaker didn’t commission for themselves. The M1 will be on public display for the duration of next year at a new BMW of Southampton dealership on Montauk Highway.
