As far as car collectors are concerned these days, the 1979 Camaro isn’t necessarily the most sought-after model. Or at least, it’s not as appealing as the early Camaros.
But this doesn’t necessarily mean a ’79 Camaro isn’t worth checking out. It is, and when several original parts are also coming with the car, the whole thing gets even more interesting.
This is exactly the case with this Camaro right there, which eBay seller classic-car-builder says they took out of storage recently in New Jersey. No other specifics have been shared on where the car was originally sleeping, but we're being told the Camaro was parked inside for several years.
The original yellow paint is still on the car, obviously not in a mint condition, and the black interior is there, too, though it will need plenty of fixes.
But when it comes to the engine under the hood, this is where the story gets tricky.
The seller didn't say too many things about the engine. They said only that the car is in running order and moving.
The 1979 Camaro Z28 was powered by a 350 (5.7-liter) 4-barrel engine paired with a 4-speed transmission. Unless a swap was performed, this is what should be under the hood.
The Z28 also added several extras, including new decals and door handle tape inserts, sport mirrors painted in the body color, a special dash design, and a new steering wheel with a larger rim section and a Z28 hub insert.
Only some of these are still on the car, so if you’re planning a full restoration, you should keep this in mind when planning a purchase.
