I’m willing to bet that you never thought that the original Mini could use a flatbed. I’m also willing to bet that if you see such a car down the road, you’ll immediately want it and that’s what we’re showing you today.
Located in Leeds, the UK, this car is an original Mini with a pickup body. The whole thing looks absolutely brilliant and we were amazed as soon as we laid eyes on it. Since we caught the pickup bug lately, we had to share it with you.
According to the eBay ad, the car was bought in 2004 and was in a really bad shape. The woman that had it wanted something really out of the ordinary so she hired a team of professionals to give it the shape you see today.
To get it looking so good, the team had to spend no less than GBP8,500, which translates into roughly $13,000, a lot by any standard. Justifying those expenses are the receipts that the owner carefully kept around.
The car received a 1.3-liter Connaught Competition Engine with new pistons, bearings, oil pump, ARP big end bolts, duplex timing chain and Cooper S-spec head, as well as a new manifold, exhaust and suspension. The latter item even offer adjustable ride height.
As you’re going to see from the photos, the interior received a make over as well now featuring a wooden dash, Alpine stereo, Mountney steering wheel and new seats. The sliding moonroof and the alloy wheels complete the package.
