A long time ago, when modified Porsches were still a rarity, Outlaws were seen as sacrilege by most purist fans. Still, their desirability has increased immensely in recent years, mostly thanks to the work of people like Bruce Canepa or the folks at Emory Motorsports, who are arguably seen as the inventors of the term ‘Outlaw.’
Even though the name itself has appeared more recently, modified Porsches have existed for almost as long as the carmaker, and dozens of custom specialists are making a living by transforming older 911s and 356s into vehicular works of art worthy of the Outlaw name.

Some of them are more driver-focused while others are more into attention-grabbing, but the following 1975 Porsche 911 ‘R-Gruppe’ Outlaw probably falls into both categories. Believe it or not, the Cockney Brown exterior color is actually original, and so is the custom Recaro leather interior, which only makes this one-owner Porsche even more special.

The rest of the design and driving alterations are made to infuse it with the spirit of the original Carrera RS or the mighty R-Gruppe racing machines from the 70s. The current iteration of the car was commissioned by its longtime previous owner in 2012, as a joint effort between Kelly Moss Road and Race and Rothsport Racing.

Exterior modifications mostly include custom front and rear bumpers, a front-mounted oil cooler, a custom ducktail rear decklid with ‘Carrera RS’ badging, anodized black aluminum trim pieces, and a set of 3-piece BBS Motorsport E28 wheels with magnesium centers.

The original air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six was replaced by the most modern version of the legendary air-cooled flat-six, a 3.6-liter Porsche 993 Varioram engine decked with a 911 GT3 exhaust. Around 315 horsepower are sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt magnesium-case 915 5-speed manual transmission.

The car’s brakes and suspension have also been upgraded, so this Outlaw is both ‘show’ and ‘go’ for whoever has the financial resources to bid for it, as it is being offered for sale in an online auction. The ‘Buy it now’ price is a mouth-watering $195,000, but to the right person, it’s definitely worth it.
