1970s Ford F-Series with Toyota AE86 N2 Wide Body Kit Should Be Ken Block’s New Hoonicorn

Since Ken Block ditched his Fiesta for the now-famous Mustang Hoonicorn over one year ago, we’ve been thinking about the contraption that could serve the man’s interests in the future installments of the Gymkhana franchise.

Drifting all over major cities in the U.S. is serious business and Block would need something at least as solid as the 845 hp restomod incarnation of a 1965 Mustang, the machine he used for Gymkhana Seven.

Given Block’s relationship with Ford, we figured we might as well stay within the Blue Oval’s stable, obviously keeping the retro theme alive.

With this kind of plans in mind, we were thrilled to have come across a proposal that seems to suit the profile just fine. Before you grab your spanners (or other garage tools), you should know we are talking about a mere rendering, albeit a brilliant one.

The machine shown in the image above is a sixth-generation Ford F-Series, which has been digitally gifted with a wide body kit coming from... a Toyota AE86. This is the famous-among-enthusiasts N2 kit, which comes from Toyota TRD go-fast arm.

Strapping a JDM wide body piece to what is basically America with a bed might seem like sacrilege, but that’s only until you get to see the rendering we're discussing here.

Even Khyzyl Saleem, the 22-year-old digital artist who came up with the mashup, was surprised to see how well the two elements cope with each other: “Who would have thought that an N2 AE86 kit would work so well on a truck (with a few adjustments of course)." Oh, and by the way, this pixel manipulator likes to complete jobs such as this one over his lunch break.

Yes, we know, Block will use a 1978 Mk2 Ford Escort for Gymkhana 8, but perhaps he’ll consider a bit of a blue collar for what comes next.
